The duck towel extravaganza started a few months ago when I found 2 vintage duck towels and made a couple of pairs of shorts. I’ve been on the hunt every since because the ducks are very popular! Some of the duck towels I have found, like this one, are very thick and plush and the ducks are simply too big for shorts.
Let me introduce the first of several to come…..zip up duck hoodies! I love this piece SO much! It is unbelievably soft! I paired it up with a gorgeous vintage sculpted towel in the most amazing blue color. Please note that I cut the sleeves wider and shorter than a typical sleeve and it is meant to have 3/4 length sleeves. I happen to have pretty short T-rex arms and the sleeves on this hit me right at the wrist. Be aware of the measurements to check where the fringe on the sleeves would land on you! This hoodie has a nice big inside pocket, a vintage velour towel for the hood and a heavy duty metal zipper!
I try to give my best guess on the sizing but encourage you to always use your measurements. It can be tricky to measure your own body and add in enough extra space for ease and such so my best advice is to measure something you already have and love the fit of. I would say this would best fit someone who typically wears a L/XL depending on the fit you prefer.
Pit to pit, 24″
Sleeves, 20″ (including the fringe)
Total length, measured from the top of the shoulder to the bottom hem, 26″
The materials I use are vintage and will show some wear and minor imperfections. This is a beautiful patina that comes from years of love and mending. Any major imperfections are carefully repaired through visible mending. My goal is first to make you a garment that is sturdy af and will last a lifetime and second, a one of a kind piece of wearable art. I recommend washing your new garment on a gentle cycle and laying flat to dry. Thank you for being part of Mother Nature’s Army by supporting slow fashion.
