I’m so excited to tell you the story of how this coat came to be! There are 3 knit blankets and a vintage flannel duck sheet used in the making of this piece and all of those textiles came from a variety of small business resellers! I love this small upcycling community and feel lucky to be part of it and for the connections I’ve made.
This coat is a very warm substantial coat! No exaggeration, it weighs 6 pounds! It’s very thick and cozy beyond belief, I would say this is better suited for someone who lives in a cold climate or who generally runs cool more often than not. This coat has two oversized front pockets, flannel lining (inside the hood and pockets too), heavy duty brass snaps and I added fringe at the bottom for extra flare. So many hours of loving care and attention went into the making of this garment and I can guarantee you’ll never see one exactly the same.
I try to give my best guess on the sizing but encourage you to always use your measurements. It can be tricky to measure your own body and add in enough extra space for ease and such so my best advice is to measure something you already have and love the fit of. That being said, based on the measurements, this coat would likely be best for someone who generally wears a 2/3XL depending on how you like the fit.
Pit to pit, 30″
Length, 35″ including the fringe
The materials I use are vintage and will show some wear and minor imperfections. This is a beautiful patina that comes from years of love and mending. Any major imperfections are carefully repaired through visible mending. My goal is first to make you a garment that is sturdy af and will last a lifetime and second, a one of a kind piece of wearable art. I recommend washing your new garment on a gentle cycle and laying flat to dry. Thank you for being part of Mother Nature’s Army by supporting slow fashion.
