I love this happy turtle beach poncho. This is upcycled from a vintage beach towel that has been loved and cherished and used….please note that this towel is on the thinner side. It’s got no holes or excessive wear but it is lighter weight/thinner. I paired it up with another vintage beach towel I had on hand that was about the same weight to keep this one airy and comfortable. It’s got a little front pocket with a flower applique that I fashed out of the scrap I had from cutting the neck hole for the hood. No waste. The ponch is joined on the sides but has a very large arm opening and a split in the bottom side seam for full range of motion.
I try to give my best guess on the sizing but encourage you to always use your measurements. It can be tricky to measure your own body and add in enough extra space for ease and such so my best advice is to measure something you already have and love the fit of. The beach ponchos can easily fit a wide variety of bodies as they are essentially a beach towel that’s folded in half. Please note that beach towels do come in different sizes so check the measurements below.

The materials I use are vintage and will show some wear and minor imperfections. This is a beautiful patina that comes from years of love and mending. Any major imperfections are carefully repaired through visible mending. My goal is first to make you a garment that is sturdy af and will last a lifetime and second, a one of a kind piece of wearable art. I recommend washing your new garment on a gentle cycle and laying flat to dry. Thank you for being part of Mother Nature’s Army by supporting slow fashion.
