Zodiac denim jacket, Aries, S/M

Of all the vintage towels i've come across in the last four years upcycling/reworking them, i've only encountered 4 zodiac sign towels. Royal Terry made these zodiac towels in the 1970's and I believe they were made in four colors. I have yet to find a green one but I was able to get 2 blues, a black and a red! It's kind of like finding a unicorn.

So, what did I do with the coveted vintage zodiac towels? I split them up, lined the back with cotton interfacing, trimmed them in vintage bias tape and created an applique of each one. With Fall right around the corner, it felt like the perfect mashup to put an applique on the back of some denim jackets.

This denim jacket is a 1950's-1960's Sears & Roebuck sanforized jacket, it's incredible! It doesn't have a size tag but would best fit someone who typically wears a S/M

I always include full measurements for each garment and people will frequently ask me what the best way to measure themselves is and this is my advice:  I always recommend measuring something similar that you have and love the fit of!  Measuring your body just tells you your actual measurements but it doesn't take into account what level of ease you like in a garment.  I prefer my clothes sit a little loose with lots of ease.  For measuring your garment, lay it flat (if it has an opening, make sure it's fully closed) and measure across armpit to armpit, then from the shoulder to the bottom hem for the length and then the shoulder seam to the wrist for the sleeve length.

For washing instructions, I generally say the best way to take care of vintage textiles is to wash in cold on delicate and hang or lay flat to dry.  This will keep your garment in tip top shape for many years to come.
